As Covid-19 restrictions are being eased, employers still need to adapt their working environments to manage the risk posed by coronavirus.
On 19 July 2021 England moves to Step 4 of the roadmap, including the removal of some restrictions. You can check the latest GOV.UK guidance. There is also information if you are in an area where a new COVID-19 variant is spreading.
There are different approaches and timescales for removing restrictions (and how that is affected by variants) in Scotland and Wales.
To minimise the risk of infection in the workplace, the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) is continuing to carry out spot checks and inspections on businesses to ensure they are working safely. It is doing this by calling, visiting and inspecting all types of businesses, in all areas, to check the measures they’ve put in place are in line with the current guidance.
HSE is also working closely with local authorities assisting them in their targeting of premises in the sectors they regulate such as hospitality and retail.
